The Geneva-based Frederique Constant has prepared an unusual version of his in-house perpetual calendar. The watch was created in cooperation with The Naked Watchmaker, or Petr Speak.
Peter Speake returns to the watch horizon! And nothing could please us so much as the name of one of our favorite watchmakers, once again tied to a specific, physical project. Although the brand called Speake-Marin still functions, it has long been unrelated to the person of Peter, about whom we wrote regularly on CH24.PL. After his break with the brand he created, Peter studied various topics to finally create (together with his then wife Daniela Marin) the portal The Naked Watchmaker, dedicated to watch mechanics enthusiasts. Using his considerable experience, Peter focused on delving into the details of watchmaking, disassembling the mechanisms and telling about the history of watchmaking (you can find his interactive course HERE). We only missed the replica watches as such, and here they are… or actually they are, the first project of The Naked Watchmaker.
Together with the Frederique Constant brand, Peter chose the Slimline Perpetual Calendar model and modified it quite specifically. The original elegant watch took on a much more casual character, all thanks to the selected colors and transparency. The highlight of the project was to open the dial so that you could see the mechanism working underneath it. Peter also suggested changing some details, such as magnification of some indications, new skeleton hands, open moon phase disc, with luminous moons. The entire design is in brown colors, contrasting with the blue coating on the mechanism’s bridges.
The Naked Watchmaker & Frederique Constant Slimline Perpetual Calendar Manufacture is wrapped in steel. The case is 42 mm in diameter, has a rounded profile, 10.2 mm thick and has a WR of 3 atm. It is finished with polishing, closed on both sides with sapphire glasses and set with a brown, textile strap and a steel buckle. The automatic caliber FC-775 with a modest 38-hour power reserve was placed under the sapphire caseback. The mechanism has an aesthetic set of decorations, and in addition to the aforementioned blue bridges, FC also offers pearls, Geneva stripes and blue screws.
Exactly 99 copies of The Naked Watchmaker & Frederique Constant Slimline Perpetual Calendar Manufacture will be created – each priced at EUR 9,995 (~ PLN 47,000). To pre-order – until July 5 – you can HERE. And we are already looking forward to the next joint projects of The Naked Watchmaker.
