The Calatrava 24-Hour Travel Time features a new caliber that correctly expresses Patek Philippe’s current offering in the mid-range of its complications. Thin, measuring just 3.7 mm, it is exquisitely finished, with an eye towards the connoisseur. The new caliber derives from the ultra-thin 31-260 basic automatic movement, immediately recognizable by the splendid five-bridge construction which, with different degrees of complication, is mounted inside the brand’s most recent ultra-thin calendars, among which our favorite, the Calendar, stands out. perpetual linear, the now legendary 5236P of 2021.
All watches that feature a variation of the 31-260 movement are ultra-flat and the Calatrava 24-Hour Travel Time is no different; with 9.85 mm of thickness, from glass to glass, the watch is just over 10, precisely 10.2 mm considering that the case edge protrudes by about 4 mm. It is not a minimum weight in diameter, reaching the not exactly golden measurement of 42 mm, but the proportions are correct.
It is a cross between ultra-classic high watchmaking and innovation in which the caliber 31-260 PS FUS 24H plays a double role, renewing Patek’s undeclared ambition to raise the level of decoration and appeal towards high and very high watchmaking , in which only a few years ago it lost comparison with some competitors from the Indie galaxy.
Local time and home time are adjusted exclusively with the crown, there is no corrector on the case which is therefore extremely clean, enclosing a latest generation movement that is easy to adjust and less classic than the finishes suggest, which focuses on the extreme efficiency of the kinematic chain and on the perfect integration of the two hour measuring mechanisms. The round of Arabic numerals is inserted between two thin “chemin de fer” minute tracks. The price of the new Patek Calatrava 24-Hour Travel Time is €57,830.
